ARCHAEOLOGY DIVISION AT THE AAA
Sponsored Sessions
The AD annually sponsors one or more innovative, synthesizing sessions intended to reflect the state-of-the-art and the thematic concerns in archaeology. Session organizers interested in AD sponsorship should indicate the AD as the relevant review section at the time of submission. The program editor then selects sessions to sponsor, either solely or together with other AAA sections. Those sessions appear on the program as “Sponsored.” They receive additional publicity in the program and are given prime session times.
Additional Opportunities
AD members are encouraged to submit to all types of presentations at the AAA. The full submission guidelines are available on the AAA conference website.
ARCHAEOLOGY DIVISION SPONSORSHIP AT THE SOCIETY FOR AMERICAN ARCHAEOLOGY
In the interests of promoting discussion of topics, research, and theory of broad significance to anthropology and of strategic concern to archaeologists, the Archaeology Division will support a session at the Society for American Archaeology meetings. In addition to the sponsorship being listed in the program, the AD will support refreshments at the session.
Applications should be sent to the President-Elect (click on Officers for contact information), via e-mail (as a Word document or PDF attachment). Please include your last name in the file name of the attachment. The application should include the following:
- Title and abstract of proposed session
- Complete list of participants
- Complete list of discussion topics (if a forum) or titles and abstracts of all individual papers in a symposium
The major criterion for selection of AD sponsorship is how well the proposed symposium exemplifies a holistic anthropological approach to a topic in archaeology.
